| Advocacy Days are hosted by the Nebraska Arts Council in partnership with Nebraskans for the Arts and focuses on the importance of public funding for the arts. This events provide a special opportunity for Nebraska's arts organizations and artists to meet face to face with elected representatives and tell them about the positive effect that arts funding has throughout Nebraska.
The most recent Advocacy Days activity was the 2010 Legislative Breakfast, which was held on Tuesday, February 23 from 7:30 to 8:45 a.m. at the Lincoln State Capitol.
This event provided a special opportunity for Nebraska's arts organizations and artists to meet face to face with elected representatives and tell them about the positive effect that arts funding has throughout Nebraska.

The LaVon Crosby Award
Beginning in 2005, the LaVon Crosby Award has been given to an elected official who has demonstrated outstanding advocacy for Nebraska art and culture. The 2009 recipient was Senator John E. Nelson, District 6, Omaha.
Kennedy Center Schools of Excellence in Arts Education Award
This award provides an important outlet for expanding recognition of the role individual schools play in providing a creative learning environment for outstanding student achievement. The 2009 recipient in Nebraska was Crete Middle School in Crete. |
