Using examples from original poems, stories, and songs, Deb Carpenter demonstrates how stories from the past give insights on meeting challenges of the present. Participants will discover how pioneers and other leaders met hardships and helped shape the American West. Activities will include exploring historical documents, diaries, and family or community legends. From that research, participants will be encouraged to create their own poems, songs, and stories to share in presentations for classmates or members of the community.
