2012 Individual Artist Fellowship in Literature: $1,000 Merit Award

Anna Monardo’s novel Falling In Love with Natassia was published by Doubleday in June 2006. Excerpts first appeared in Prairie Schooner, were nominated for Pushcart Prizes and awarded a Nebraska Arts Council Fellowship. Her first novel, The Courtyard of Dreams (Doubleday, 1993), set largely in southern Italy, was nominated for a PEN/Hemingway Award, recommended for the National Book Critics Circle Award and translated into German, Norwegian and Danish. Monardo’s stories, essays and poems have been anthologized, featured on National Public Radio and on Salon.com, and are forthcoming or have been published in The Sun, More, Poets & Writers, Indiana Review, Redbook and other magazines and journals. A three-time recipient of grants from the Nebraska Arts Council, as well as a recipient of fellowships from Yaddo, MacDowell, the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts and the Djerassi Foundation, she is currently a professor in the Writer's Workshop at the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
