Judith Slater

2012 Individual Artist Fellowship in Literature: $2,000 Merit Award
Judith Slater is the author of The Baby Can Sing and Other Stories, winner of the Mary McCarthy Prize in Short Fiction and published by Sarabande Books. Her individual stories have been widely published, most recently in such magazines as Ascent, Pearl, Eclipse, CARVE, and Lake Effect. She is on the faculty of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where she teaches creative writing and literature and serves as the English Department’s Coordinator of Creative Writing. She is the past winner of two Nebraska Arts Council Individual Artist fellowships.
