2012 Governor's Arts Awards to be Rebroadcast & Online

The Nebraska Arts Council has some great news for those who may have missed the 2012 Governor’s Arts Awards dinner and awards presentation recently held on April 2 in Lincoln at the Embassy Suites. The festivities, which were aired live the evening of the event, will be rebroadcast and also be available for on-demand streaming according to this schedule:

Rebroadcast Dates on NET2World:
Thursday, April 19, at 7 p.m., CST
Sunday, April 22 at 1 p.m., CST

The program is archived for on-demand streaming at http://www.netnebraska.org/publicmedia/

The Governor’s Arts Awards is celebrated biennially and is sponsored by the Nebraska Arts Council, Nebraskans for the Arts and the Nebraska Cultural Endowment. The live recording, rebroadcast and on-demand streaming schedule is made possible by NET Public Media in partnership with The Nebraska Arts Council.

The event theme, “The Arts Drive Nebraska”, explores Nebraska arts and culture in “modern cowboy style”: from a chopper saddle on the open road. The event included a cocktail hour and live entertainment, followed by the dinner and live broadcast awards program. Guests attended in their best business or biker attire.

The program hosts include Nebraska humorist Juli Burney and Dave Heineman, Governor of Nebraska. A live performance by Celtic Cabaret served as entertainment for the crowd. Awards provided to the evening’s honorees were ceramic vessels handcrafted by Susan Dewsnap, an artist based in Lincoln and a photograph by Larry Ferguson of Omaha for the recipient of the Leonard Thiessen award. Complete details on the event can be found in our Governor's Arts Awards section of the website.
