Conferences, Sessions and Workshops

Each year the Nebraska Arts Council hosts a variety of workshops, presentations, listening forums and public meetings. No matter what we call them, they all have one thing in common: sharing of information with the goal of promoting best practices in arts administration and management.

Efficient and well-run arts organizations make for a strong arts infrastructure. Often, conferences and workshops are sponsored to fulfill a need that has arisen in the arts community, to introduce a new idea, develop a partnership and/or to collect research for arts advocacy.

The following are examples of conferences and workshops sponsored by the NAC:

  • Sponsored in partnership with the African American Empowerment Network, this program provided opportunities for arts organizations to develop their professional and administrative capacities.

  • Jane Hill, an independent consultant currently residing in Sacramento, CA spent approximately six weeks traveling across Nebraska working directly with arts organizations .

  • Twice a year the NAC conducts public workshops and webinars which provide an overview of the agency and the grant categories of the NAC.

  • The Arts in Crisis Tour was initiated on a national basis to provide free mentoring to arts groups large and small looking to successfully navigate through the current economic crisis.

  • The Grant Writing 101 workshops provide specifics on writing competitive applications for NAC funding.
